Pakistan Mango Diplomacy: BJP has recently made a claim that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor of Congress and Samajwadi Party MP Mohibullah have received mangoes from Pakistan which can be a sensitive matter from political point of view.
BJP has made this claim at a time when there is a constant situation of indirect relations between political parties, according to BJP’s allegations this can be a potential issue which can be important from the perspective of national security and international relations. Investigation and clarification will be required to confirm the truth of such allegation.

BJP has recently made a serious allegation in which they have said that Pakistan’s High Commissioner has sent cartons of mangoes to opposition leaders in Delhi. In this context BJP has said that this move by Pakistan reflects Mango Diplomacy which is a traditional strategy to promote friendly relations through mangoes.

Mango diplomacy is especially practiced in South Asia where special and expensive fruits like mangoes are considered as a symbol of friendship and sweetness of relations. In this case, BJP has also claimed that Pakistan has sent mango gifts to opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi and seven other Indian parliamentarians.
Along with this issue, there are also reports of violence and unrest in Bangladesh which is taking regional politics towards increasing complexity. Pakistan’s Mango Diplomacy initiative and the situation in Bangladesh is an indication that the dynamics of politics and diplomacy in South Asia are becoming more complex and deeper.
