Foreign Minister S Jaishankar informed the Parliament that there are about 19,000 Indian citizens in Bangladesh, out of which 9,000 are students. Many students have returned to India after the protests began. He also said that the Indian government is in close contact with the Indian community living in Bangladesh and is also monitoring the situation of minorities.
